Thank you for your support for the Team Deane on Bike MS: Texas MS 150 2023
UPDATED: APRIL 30th
Our beloved General Manager Mr. Chris Perry paddled for the 19th consequent 150-mile bike ride this year on the weekend of April 29th. His spouse of 33 years, Mrs. Deane Perry, was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis in 2003, and the Team Deane was established in 2004 for Mr. Perry, his family and friends to participate raising funds for the MS research.
Mr. & Mrs. Deane Perry at the Bike MS: Texas MS 150 on April 30, 2023. With your contributions from the two special items at TRIS, we helped raise $3,500 for Team Deane this year.
I chose the MS150 ride for my wife since it is the largest fundraising event and 95% of the donations go to finding a cure. It was the fastest way to raise awareness and to fund research for a cure for MS.
Mrs. Deane Perry participated in the Bike MS until 2007 and coincidentally her last race bib-number was also 2007. Mrs. Perry is no longer participating in the MS 150 due to her Multiple Sclerosis condition.
“The Bike MS is the largest contributor to the fundraising efforts, so I went all in on the fastest way to raise the most amount of money to have the biggest impact,” Mr. Perry said. “A lot has changed in 20 years. When Deane was first diagnosed with MS, she was getting her medication as a daily shot. Thanks to the research and advances in medicine, it’s more convenient today with daily pills.”
Team Deane has raised over $140,000 toward finding a cure for MS so far. Each year Mr. Perry starts his practices in January, which includes an average 175 miles a week routinely until the Bike MS weekend in late April. “In the end, I always think that my worst day riding is still better than my wife’s best day, so I get over the pain pretty fast,” he said.
