Chef Austin Simmons and the TRIS team were the featured restaurant for The Truffle Masters VIP Pre-Party on Monday, January 28 at The Revaire in Houston.
The Truffle Masters is an annual celebration hosted by DR Delicacy, a Houston-based luxury food importer and distributor. The event brings together top chefs from the Houston area who compete for The Truffle Master title by creating a signature dish using fresh black truffles.
Chef Austin Simmons was on site to prepare three different bite size samples; Oyster Chowder, Truffle Tartine and a Crème Brûlée Tart. Each bite size sample was topped with freshly shaved truffles – for judges, press, sponsors and VIP ticket holders before The 2019 Truffle Masters began.
Last year, Chef Austin Simmons and the team took home the first place with Truffle Grilled Cheese sandwich with shaved truffles and aged gruyère on a toasted brioche. Chef Austin also received the People’s Choice Award for the Oyster & Truffle Potage in 2017.
We’d like to congratulate Chef Manabu (Hori) Horiuchi and the Kata Robata team being named The 2019 Truffle Master. Chef Austin and Chef Hori recently teamed up for a Black & White Truffle Masters CollaborEIGHT dinner on December 2018.
