TRIS’ Big Rig is crowned a ‘big’ award (literally) at the Texas Wine Auction.
The Texas Wine Auction took place at the Vista Oaks Event Center in Fredericksburg, Texas on Saturday night April 29, 2023.
This second-annual event benefitted the Texas Wine Revolution. The 501 (c) 3 non-profit organization impacts Texas Hill Country hospitality community by providing medical assistance, resources for continuing education on winemaking practices and by funding research and development initiatives through Texas A&M AgriLife Extension.
Chef Austin Simmons was one of eight Texas chefs invited to compete for the popular vote of the attendees. Each chef was paired with a winery partner to use as inspiration and complement their dish. The progressive dinner allowed guests sampling bites and Texas wine. Chef Austin and the TRIS team oak-grilled our famous Big Rib onsite and paired it with the Pedernales Cellars’ 2018 Texas High Plains Graciano. The combination was a fan favorite and helped Chef Austin bring home the ‘Big’ 2023 Chef Competition Grand Prize.
